Derwentwater is regarded by many to be one of the most beautiful
of all the lakes and it is only a few minutes walk from Hawcliffe
House to its shores. Here you can take a trip on one of the Keswick
launches or even hire a rowing boat and enjoy the scenery
from wherever you choose on the lake.
Hawcliffe House
is the ideal base for walking for those who want a leisurely stroll
on nearby gentle fells like Latrigg. For the more dedicated walker
the likes of the majestic Skiddaw and Blencathra mountains are easily
available from our door. The whole of Lakeland is easily accessed
by car or bus from Keswick so for those who enjoy touring the countryside
and coastline we are very well located as a starting point.
There are many
places of interest and beauty without even leaving Keswick town.
Fitz Park is a minutes walk from Hawcliffe House and has various
sporting facilities including tennis, putting and bowls. The river
Greta runs through the park gardens adding to the tranquillity and
making it a wonderful place to relax. Keswick also has another park
situated close to the lake. Hope Park has a stunning planted area,
pitch and putt, crazy golf and is easily accessed from the town.
Also well worth
a visit in Keswick is the world famous Cumberland
Pencil factory and the recently built Theatre
By The Lake. The town boasts many fine buildings and a wide
variety of shops catering particularly for the outdoor lover.
Moot Hall, home of the Tourist Information Centre dominates the market place and Saturdays
sees a thriving, colourful market filling the town centre.
Hawcliffe House
is situated a couple of minutes walk from Keswick town centre. Eskin
Street has on-street parking on both sides of the road and is easy
to find when approaching from either direction on the A527. Click
